Wedding Cakes and Crumpets

The author of the first ever recipe for a wedding cake, Elizabeth Raffald was born and bred in Doncaster! Her recipe for a “Bride Cake” (what we know as a wedding cake) was first published in 1769.  Elizabeth is also behind many of the recipes that we still know and love to eat today, including crumpets and Eccles cakes.
