Charlie Williams was a miner turned comedian whose quick wit and warm Yorkshire charm made him a national treasure. Born in the heart of Donny, he swapped the coal face for the comedy stage, becoming one of Britain’s first Black TV funnymen. With his trademark laugh and down-to-earth humour, Charlie brought a touch of Doncaster sparkle to living rooms across the country.
