Sharing local peoples’ memories about fascinating encounters with music artists in Doncaster

Over the years, people have told us some incredible stories about encounters they’ve had with music artists in Doncaster. Doncaster Sound Memories exists to celebrate and preserve these stories about local musical history.

Do you have a story about a musical encounter you’ve had in Doncaster?

Maybe you’ve had a cup of tea with the Beatles… Bumped into Joey Ramone near town fields… Or picked up Kylie in a taxi! These are just some of the stories we’ve heard over the years and have captured through Doncaster Sound Memories.

Doncaster Sound Memories, celebrates YOUR stories as oral histories, through broadcasts on Sine FM, online, and via a large-scale public exhibition.

Below are a few of the summarised stories from the project to click on and read. Some of these will feature in the public exhibition on the corner of Nether Hall and Christchurch Road, Doncaster, which will be in place for the whole of 2023

Doncaster Sound Memories has been made possible with support from The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Thanks to National Lottery players, this unique project will capture, preserve and celebrate music memories of local people, based on oral historical accounts of musical events and encounters they have experienced in Doncaster.
